Wednesday, I will be 37 years old! 36 to 37. I'm not sure why the difference between the 6 and the 7 sounds so significant. Maybe it is because of all that I have gone through this year. Or, maybe it is all that I know is to come for the following. Regardless, I have a feeling 37 will be an extraordinary one.
As my move approaches, I watch the studio change. All the mementos that bring me comfort sit clustered on a table to be packed away. There are piles divided. Notes tacked to objects with prospective plans. I give things away when people come over. I make lists of what to sell, what to store, and what to bring. Its hard to see the attachment to our possessions until we have to get rid of them. Their is an air of mourning. The studio, my home is slowly becoming undone.
For the last 5 years in the Bemis Arts Building, my studio has been a revolving door of friends, family, clients, community, business ideas, business partners, failure, success, love, loss, and growth. I cannot think of a better way to commemorate my time here than to once again open my door for more memories. I invite you all to come to my studio Saturday April 20th and/or Sunday April 21st anytime between noon and, well whenever. Bring food, bring drinks, bring stories and memories. How would you like to celebrate in this space with me? There will be one or two "family meetings" as a toast to the space. The space that challenged me and fostered my dreams.
I thank you.
